China is a country with rich ancient human civilizations, trace of history over thousand years can be seen everywhere. Angang Xi(Angang Stream) is a district located in the southwest of Qiqihaer city, Heilongjiang province, covering an area of 740 square kilometers. In Mongolian language, Angang Xi means hunting grounds. Regarded as the land of “Fat Big Fish and Fresh Water”, it is one of the birthplaces of ancient Chinese civilization and has a long history that can be traced back in 7500 years ago, known as the Neolithic times. It represents the middle and late period of New Stone Age.

The ancient inhabitants of this land started making a live with fishing and hunting since then, creating an unique North Prairie culture that is as great as Yellow River civilization. The Angang Stream Relic is composed with 22 relic sites and 17 remains sites, all are on the left bank of Nen River.

In the year of 1928, some Russian railway worker found that there were a lot historical relics and remains on sand dunes scattered on the left bank of the river. It was the time that Angang Stream unveiled itself to the world. Two years later, the relics were excavated by a famous Chinese archaeologist named Liang Siyong for the first time. A huge number of stone tools, potteries, bone tools and some other ornaments were unearthed. The discovery had a great influence at home and abroad at that time.

Vast floodplains developed layer by layer over time and gradually became higher than the river, finally forming the high floodplains, which was perfect for human settlements. It was then where the culture begain. The history witness the best times and the worst times of Angang Stream. Once it was the most fertile land that human and wild animals lived on besides the river, as the time went, it became an ancient battlefield and was robbed and ravaged the brutal invaders.

According to the research of archaelogists, fishing and hunting were the main status of economy for local hominid.Traditional grain growing and farming begain to appear in the late period, with a history of development more than 3000 years. The best part was visting the Angang Stream Historial museum. The moment we stepped in, it felt like we were going through a time travel tunnel, bringing us to the unique stone age. Thos artifacts were more than just stones for me, they were more like a proof of history.

There were three exhibition halls inside. In the hall A, there exhibited a full-body bone of hominid and a report from the archaelogist Liang Siyong. With the help of multimedia imaging technology, tourists could see the life of primitive people, how they lit fire to cook or hunted. It was very interesting. In the second lobby, it was some ancient tools from that period such as cooking tools, bone tools and bone needles. Lobby C mainly talked about the life of Liang Siyong, how he was committed to his carrer and never gave up.
