Detailed Itinerary: For this tour, at least four people must sign up for it to be held and two pick-up times to choose from: 7:30AM or 11:30AM. The driver will pick you up at your time from the hotel then transfer you to Sichuan cuisine museum at Gucheng village, Pixian county of Chengdu. It is approximately a 1 hour 30 minute journey.
Activity 1- 9:50AM / 1:50PM
Once you arrive at the museum, you will be amazed by the numerous kinds of snacks: Sichuan style stuffed pancake, northern Sichuan style jelly, Tofu pudding, Zhong’s dumpling, Sichuan pickle, Jinsi noodles and so on. Try these snacks for a start-up in this memorable food journey.
Activity 2- 10:00AM / 2:00PM
Your tour guild will show you the history and culture of Sichuan cuisine by explaining the display of over 6000 relics of cooking utensils from different dynasties. After you may visit freely in the beautiful Sichuan style garden of the museum.
Activity 3- 10:40AM / 2:40PM
You will visit an organic farmland and a poultry pen. Later, you will experience the making of Pixian chilly bean sauce and have a taste of it.
Activity 4- 10:55 AM / 2:55 PM
The kitchen God, also known as the Stove God, is one of the most important deities in Chinese folk religion most Chinese would worship every year. You will visit the largest Kitchen God Temple worldwide in this museum.
Activity 5- 11:10 AM / 3:20 PM
Your tour guide will show you around the Street of Old Sichuan Cuisine Restaurants where you can find famous Sichuan restaurants such as Chang Sheng Yuan, Zui Xia Xuan, Zhen Jiang Lou, Zui Tao Cun and so on.
Activity 6- 11:15AM / 3:25PM
Douhua, also known as tofu pudding and soybean pudding, is often eaten with Sichuan pepper, thus resulting in a savory flavor. You will get a chance to experience the making of Douhua as well as chilli powder with different kinds of cooking utensils. Enjoy your food once you finish.
Activity 7- 11:30AM / 3:30PM
Sichuan cuisine, known as Chuan Cai in Chinese, earns an international reputation for being spicy and flavorful. Its taste is best known of hot along with a little bit of sour and sweet, also salty and tongue-numbing. Today you will get a chance to put on a chef uniform and cook 3 classic Sichuan dishes with the help of the chef. The national top chef in Sichuan cuisine will try and comment on your cooking and reward you a certificate of “Master of Chuan Cai”. Enjoy the fun!
Activity 8- 12:40PM / 4:40PM
You will have the food cooked by yourself for lunch/dinner which serve with free fruits, drinks and wine. We will give out the recipe of the dishes you have cooked. We also appreciate you would take a few minutes to fill out the feedback forms.
Activity 9- 1:40PM / 5:40PM
After your meal, you are free to wander the museum for the rest of the time. You may have some tea in the tea house, have some snacks like peanuts and sun flower seeds or play Mahjong, the favorite past-time among Chengdu people. Later, you will be transferred back to Chengdu.
