The ancient papermaking had always played an important role in the daily lives of local people. In order to honor their ancestors and celebrate their past, people gave the name Xiangzhi Valley to the place.
Xiangzhi Valley is well known for its joss sticks that are sacred paper products mainly for burning during the folk worshiping time. The scenic areas, historical sites and tourist attractions of Xiangzhi Valley mainly consist of the natural landscape and cultural landscape. The natural scenery is primarily dramatic geographic landscape, hydrological landscape and rich propagation zoology sites.

Xiangzhi Valley scenic spot is with an elevation of from 960 to 1563 meters above sea-level. It belongs to a wettish area of continental subtropical monsoon with warm weather, plenty of rainfall and four clearly distinct seasons. With many cloudy days and little sunshine, the average temperature reaching 15℃, the annual precipitation of the region is over 1200 mm a year. The scenic attraction is, no intense heat in summer, no severe winter, with water and heat in the same season. Most important of all, the seasons of the year are all food holiday seasons.
