The Huangpu River claimed to be the mother river of Shanghai City, with a new identity as the rise and fall of this great city. It's thought to be the symbolic representation of the great Shanghai City, and a great tourist attraction to visit if you want to tour Shanghai City. To the best of my recollection, the river that flows through the region was called as Huang'Xie'Pu, and Huang'Xie'Pu was later renamed as Huangpu River which we use today. Here visitors could enjoy the beautiful scenery on both sides of the Huangpu River.
Passenger ship is one great way to have boasted of the magnificent view of both the glistening Huangpu River in the daytime and the neon lights at night. Visitors could take the tour beginning with an evening cruise in a luxury houseboat on the Huangpu River, which separates Shanghai into two parts, Pu Dong and Pu Xi, which also mean "east of the river" and "west of the river". There're lots of important tourist sights along its banks, proving the past, present and future of the city.
It is far better to begin your trip with visiting Waitan, which is a symbol of Shanghai and an epitome of Shanghai's modern history. Leaning against the railing to see in the distance of Waitan, you could view the Nanpu Bridge which is taken as the first bridge across the Huangpu River in Shanghai. The unique architecture like The Oriental Pearl Radio and Television Tower with a giddy height of 468 meters, also the world's third tallest TV tower stands erect and unshakable on the Huangpu River. All of the skyscrapers, the residential buildings and Nanpu Bridge combine to form a unique visual angle that most vividly reveals the city's prosperity and vitality caused by China's opening and reform.
Apart from that, the Shanghai Yangpu Bridge is another bridge across the Huangpu River, which is considered to be the world's longest suspension bridge, with the full length of 7,658 meters long. These two large bridges seem two huge dragons winding its way over the Huangpu River. The scene of ancient capital shone together with the modern construction along the river, forming the unique charms of the Huangpu River. There're already too many things come into sight that the eyes are kept fully occupied.
Wusong Port is considered as the joining place of the Huangpu River and the Yangtze River. Visitors always moored in the estuary, waiting for high tide. Wusongkou is well-known for the view of the ebb and flow of the tide. The time the tide starts to rise with the increase in the size of the seas was noticeable. It's one of the thrilling and majestic wonders of the world. At this time, the breathtaking scenery would greet the bore-watcher's eyes just as he or she had recovered from the shock. The rising tide in the Wusong Port is so unpredictable and such a phantasmagoric sight that people cannot help but be fascinated and mystified.
