Apart from various kinds of palatable local specialities that enjoys a great reputation in Central China' Hunan Province, there are also numerous national scenic areas that tourists must not miss out. Therefore, I had a visit to experience the fabulous and stunning Hunan Province recently.
To be honest, paying a visit to an ancient town is always a great choice for those who want to get far away from all of the hustles and bustles of the outside busy world for seeking of peace and attractive scenery. You will find yourself in Fenghuang Ancient Town, Hunan Province.
Fenghuang Ancient Town, usually referred to Phoenix Ancient Town, is one of the most famous ancient towns in China. It is located in the southwest of Hunan Province. It was designated as an UNESCO World Heritage Site on March 28, 2008. What should be mentioned is that Fenghuang Ancient Town was once reputed as the most beautiful town in China by Louis Eli, who is a world-kown writer and educator from New Zealand. The history of Fenghuang Ancient Town can be dated back to more than 300 years ago and it has been compared favourably with Lijiang Old Town in Yunnan Province and Ancient City of Pingyao in Shanxi Province. Fenghuang Ancient Town attracts numerous tourists every year and enjoys world-wide reputation for its spectacular scenery, ancient architectures as well as distinctive local culture and customs.
What also attracts visitors in Hunan is another magnificent site, Tianmen Mountain Scenic Area. Situated in the south of Zhangjiajie city,Tianmen Mountain Scenic Area has many breathtaking sites including 'Heaven's Door' (which is also known as Tianmen Cave) and the coiled 99 Bends, the thrilling cliff-hanging walkways and glass skywalks. Additionally, another site&the world's longest cable car ride, makes it unquestionably one of the best mountains to visit in China.

It took us about 2.5 hours on the train from Guangzhou South Station to Changsha South Station. After arrived in Changsha, we had a satisfing lunch in West Lake Restaurant. Then we continued our trip to Zhangjiajie on a bus for probably 5 hours.
West Lake Restaurant with 5,000 seats is considered as the largest restaurant inChinaand inAsia, according to an entry in theGuinness Book of Records for being the biggest Chinese restaurant in the world.
2nd Day:
We actually started our journey on the second day. Set off from Tianmen Mountain in Zhangjiajie, then took the cable car, walked across the thrilling cliff-hanging walkway. Then experienced the coiled 99 Bends as well as the glass skywalk.
Wow~Wow~Wow~What a frightening but absolutely stunning experience!
(PS: The road is built for taking tourists from the mountain foot to the top of the Tianmen Cave. The 99 Bends is not recommended for those who are easily carsick for its sharp turns along vertical cliffs.)
Afternoon, took a bus with approxi 1 hour to the Grand Canyon at Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, where looks like the another fasinating and supernatural Jiuzhaigou Valley for its green hills and clear water. Though that day was greatly hot, we really enjoyed ourselves in the waterfalls here.
3rd Day:
We explored our 3rd day trip in another side attraction, Baofeng Lake, where we could relax on a boat, see waterfalls and visit a mountain village.
With a height of over 1000 meters pointing straight up to the sky, Baofeng Lake featured with marvelous peaks in symmetric display is a spectacular part of Wulingyuan Scenic Area in Zhangjiajie.
After a visit to Zhangjiajie Museum for the silk products, we drove ro Tusicheng Site to have an authentic Tusi meal and appreciate its distinctive local customs.
Finished our day from Tusicheng Site to Fenghuang Ancient Town.
Beautiful night in Fenghuang Ancient Town with thousands of delicate lights scattering around the town.
